This. Album. Is. Fierce!

Pictured at left is Santa, one of Tori’s characters on American Doll Posse.…which I recommend that you buy. Now. Go!

Tori is back at full Tori-ness and beyond! This is a truly fantastic album. And don’t just take my word for it – check out what allmusic.com said about it (by the way, allmusic is an insanely comprehensive music site which is endlessly useful and awesome).

I think maybe Boys For Pele would be a fair choice to compare this album to. 23 tracks. Eclectic mix of sounds (Tori actually goes places musically that she’s never gone before – if you can believe that there were any places left that she hadn’t gone!). A gamut of emotions. Brilliant. Bold.

ADP is sharp, unapologetic, whip-smart, confident, excessive and BIG. Tori speaks for women so well, so eloquently, so effectively. I love to hear her railing against the patriarchy and getting fired up by current events. This is a really timely album – in a time when we need Tori’s voice!

Oh, and get the deluxe addition for its gorgeous packaging and bonus dvd (haven’t watched yet).

Looks like my John Legend albums will finally be getting a break.

P.S. Tori, I totally forgive you for The Beekeper.

It has arrived! The release date of Tori Amos’ much-anticipated (at least by me) new album, American Doll Posse! And in honor of this occasion, ToriAmos.com is all Doll Posse-ed up! You can click on each member of the Doll Posse to read more about her, look at (awesome) pictures of her, and link to her blog! That’s right, each of these characters has her own piece of cyberspace for your reading pleasure!

Okay, time to dial back on the exclamation points…

Here are the links to the blogs of Santa, Pip, Clyde, Isabel, and of course, Tori’s myspace. I haven’t read any of them as of press time, so I can’t endorse them just yet (they may be pointless drivel – who knows), but I’m willing to bet they are at least fun.

As for me, I will be going directly after work to purchase my very own copy of ADP…or perhaps at lunch time? Can’t wait!

Apparantly, Tori Amos has a myspace page, and you can go there right now to hear American Doll Posse in full!!

I haven’t listened yet… I’m actually getting ready to leave work… I don’t know when I’ll find the time! Errands, commuting, dinner, Idol Gives Back — Oh my!

Here’s one of my favorite ADP pictures for your enjoyment.

I’ve been periodically checking in over at ToriAmos.com to keep abreast of new album news, and much to my delight, today I found that the video for “Big Wheel” is up on Yahoo Music! And, of course, someone has posted it on Youtube.

Here it is for your viewing enjoyment:

I’m thinkin’ I’m liking it.

It made me laugh, and while I was unsure of the “M-I-L-F” part when I heard the song, I think she makes it work in the video. With the audio on its own (and without an album around it), it’s kind of hard to know how it’s intended, but I think the video makes the cheek of it pretty darn clear.

Not Tori’s best ever or anything, but enough to keep me excited about the arrival of American Doll Posse!

May 1st is the release date for the new album, American Doll Posse, from Tori Amos. I, for one, am waiting with bated breath! I absolutely love Tori, and at a time, thought she could do no wrong. Then…. The Beekeeper happened…

I was astonished by how much I disliked The Beekeeper. To this day, I still have not been able to get through every song in its entirety. I would get part way through each song, and be so saddened by how bad it was, that I had to skip ahead to the next track. It just really seemed like a bad imitation of Tori Amos to me. I was worried that Tori had “lost it.” Then she started releasing compilations (A Piano: The Collection and Fade to Red) and I thought, That’s it – she’s giving up showbiz and retiring.

But now….

I am getting really excited about American Doll Posse! The above picture is of the five characters that Tori embodies on the album. If you head over to Tori’s official website, you can see a larger version of this picture and check out the track listing for the album…23 tracks!!! Some of the titles sound rather intriguing… “Yo George” (hmm… I wonder what “George” she could be referring to….?), “Mr. Bad Man,” and “Velvet Revolution,” to name a few. And if you head on over to AOL Music, you can listen to the first single “Big Wheel” and clips of “Bouncing off Clouds” and “Teenage Hustling.”

Judging from what’s up on AOL, I feel like this album is a little bit of a departure for Tori (although given the wide range of sounds her music encompasses, I guess it’s hard to call anything she does “a departure”). The music sounds much more “produced” – there isn’t much empty space in these songs. I also detected a bit of 1980s sensibility… But I gotta say, departure or no, I’m kinda liking what I’m hearing so far!

Is Tori back in all her glory?!?! I can only hope!
