I almost can’t believe the election is over, and we won. I am positively elated that Barack Obama will be our next President.
Yet, in the same breath…this:
(Just as an FYI, same-sex marriage was already illegal in Florida – this new measure goes even further and bans any kind of legal recognition/protection for same-sex couples.)
For me, Proposition 8 hurts even more than the others – to take away a right that has already been won just feels so much more heinous.
Such good news along with so much bad leaves me feeling unbalanced today. To all those in Arizona, Florida, Arkansas and California – I am thinking of you.

I feel unbalanced too. We were so happy for a few hours. It stings, I won’t lie. It was nice to have equality, even if just for a few months.

thanks for posting…i feel like a “debbie downer” as i’m having such a hard time joining others celebrating the Obama victory with all the above news weighing so heavily…
we’re going to prop 8 protest rally tonight…so i’m trying to keep the faith & stay optimistic…but it’s tough, especially with the AK, AZ and FL news…

Today was a hard day here in CA. My rights weren’t changed but the rights of so many were and I can’t imagine thier pain. I am so sorry we didn’t do better. I am so sorry.

Last week was hell. I just hope my fellow Californians who are angry stay angry, and don’t become complacent. There’s just no time for that.
