…in a giant pile of boxes.

We moved into our new apartment this weekend, which went very smoothly, and it really seems like the place is going to be a dream.  But for now, it is boxes. Lots and lots of boxes. Many containing Ikea furniture that needs to be assembled.

Oh, and speaking of furniture, we have no couch.  Well, we have a couch in theory, but no couch in our actual possession.  You see, we picked out this lovely little number:

in a beautiful shade of burnt orange (and minus those ugly accent pillows) from Macy’s (Memorial Day Sale!), but because that color is not one of the 3 that they regularly stock, it will take 12-14 weeks for our couch to come home. 12-14 weeks!!  Nothing takes that long these days! Rehab doesn’t take that long!  So for now we have our recliner and arm chair and a big empty space where our couch will sit come August.  We’re pretty in love with the couch, so it will be well worth the wait.

Anyway, I just wanted to say, “I’m alive! We made it!”  And of course mention that I stayed up past my bedtime last night to watch Barack Obama’s goosebump-inducing speech on CNN on The Accountant’s laptop (still no tv at the new place thanks to an evil cable/internet/phone company whose name starts with “Com” and ends with “cast”) and cannot wait for him to rip McCain to shreds in this campaign.
